Here's the latest update on the SSD1339...

Apparently, Solomon is phasing out the chip as obsolete and replacing it with the SSD1355. So after all the work putting the library together, it will be of little use other than to adapt it to something new. Perhaps the new version is a way to fix the bugs and quirks in the current one. I haven't worked with it so don't really know.

Don't be dishartened Tom, this has happened twice to me this last year, good news though, bith mine new chips do everything the same as the old ones but add extra functionality.
I have found all these chips are actually very similar, even across manufacturer so I hope its not too much of a hassle for you.

Excuse me for bothering you. We are starting a project using either the SSD1353 or 1355 chip. I'm having a hard time finding a description of the chip commands. Could you possibly point me in a direction to get this information?

Thanks,
John

Hello John,
I have found that the chip manufacturers do not release the data sheet to the public, I have always had to go to the glass manufacturer to get the data, they want togive you the information as they need to sell product where the chip manufacturer only deal with OEMs.

Doj,

Thank you for the quick response.

I am in contact with a distributor for the actual display module. They supplied documentation on the module, but for the chip they say "See IC Spec SSD 1353". I have a request into them for the information, but they haven't responded yet. I also have a request into Solomon, the chip manufacturer and they haven't responded yet either.

It all seems rather silly to me. All I want to know is what 'kind' of commands the graphic chip supports. But if they don't want to distribute that kind of information, then I guess I'll just have to sit back and wait for them to notice me.

Maybe I'll spend the time looking for another display that is easier to interface to.

Anyway, thank you again for responding.

John

Hi,

Try Densitron:

They sell a display based on the chip and are one of the only vendors with which it is possible to have a two-way coversation. And, yes, I can confirm - I have never dealt with a group of wholesale vendors as difficult to deal with as OLED wholesale vendors. It's really strange.
