build number module

Hi i dont know if anyone can help but i seem to remember there was module written that can generate build numbers for an aplication, so that i can display on bootup what versions of software is in a product.

thanks, i knew i rememberd that i'd seen somthing on the forum to do this but i searched the forum for version and got nothing
