MPLAB 8.66/MPASM 5.40 released

Post by Jerry Messina » Wed Mar 30, 2011 11:21 am

FYI -

There's an update to MPLAB available (8.66) that includes the new MPASM 5.40 assembler.

There's nothing really new in this version that I can tell... a few more devices now have the DEBUG bit exposed in the CONFIG word. No new 18F devices from what I see over what was in 8.63.

There is an issue, however with the 66K80 series of parts (with integrated CAN). Mchip reversed the addresses of the RXFCON0 and RXFCON1 registers in the include files so they no longer agree with the datasheet. If you rebuild the files with SystemConvert, you'll have to swap them back. (They were correct in MPLAB 8.63)

Nix what I said in that last post.

I've had a support ticket open for almost a month now about this, but it seems I was given bogus information about the 18F66K80 family. They just released an errata to the datasheet, and supposedly it's the DATASHEET that was wrong, so the include files in MPLAB 8.66 are correct.

When I was told that they'd "fix that in the next release" I assumed they meant MPLAB, not the datasheet for the part!
