Swordfish

I'm returning to Swordfish after a break to discover my 9 year old PC is creaking and I need to buy a new one.
Sadly all PCs now seem to have Windows 8 or 8.1.

I'm worried about:
a) How to transfer my Swordfish to a new W8 / W8.1 PC.
b) If SF will work (I guess also with a suitable USB/Serial converter).


I've searched Forum for "Windows 8" and "System Requirements".
I find numerous Windows 7 but not 8.

The Forum search routine can't seem to do a logical AND so search results provide me with all 'Windows' results - that needs modernising.

Surprisingly there appears to be no 'System Requirements" section in Wiki.
And nothing that is obvious in Mecanique/Compilers/Swordfish.

So, will SF run under W8 or W8.1?
Can I move my SF or do I have to re-buy?
If there is an obvious page with all this info then please point me and I promise to get some new specs.
If there isn't anything then maybe there should be.

I have not tried SF under windows 8. However, the latest version of SF does not use a dongle it uses a software key to install - so no special drivers are required. I think Swordfish would work fine under windows 8.

I'm going to have to give it a go at some stage so I may as well try it.

I won't dispose of old PC until all happy so if all goes OK I'll report back.

I'm been running SF under Win8 ever since it came out - and more recently under Win8.1 Pro x64.

It works absolutely perfectly for me. My SF version is 2.2.1.8

I'm awaiting delivery of the new PC with W8.1

This is a dumb question, sorry....

Installation of SF on to new PC: do I put in my ancient SF CD and install and then do updates?
Or is there a 'newer' method?

As per instructions SF installed on W8.1 (HP PC) and, so far, works perfectly.
