IDE comment

Post by rubenpena » Tue Apr 10, 2007 4:00 am

Hi David:
I am a user of PICBASICPRO,PDS and now the Swordfish... With my previous experience, I can comment, uncomment selected blocks and can do searchs and searchs and subsitutes with the "others" IDE's. This IDE looks very similar but lacks that functions. It is possible to add them.?
You know... the small binoculars icons and the arrows icons.
Thanks in advance...
Ruben de la Pena.

You can access search and replace from the main menu EDIT...FIBD (Ctrl+F) and EDIT...REPLACE (Ctrl+R).

There is no facility to comment or uncomment as Swordfish supports block commenting - (* *) and { }

I would also like to say that i miss the block commenting, and also the block tabbing was nice too.

its now very tedious to make the code look nice if ive just added and ifthen around some existing code.
Hmmm..

As David said Block commenting is easy with { at the start and } at the end.
Takes no more time that you would normally.

As for Block tabbing, Just high light the block do a Shift/Tab to tab in or a Tab on it's own to tab out.

where is the tabbing documented? its not a standard windows method.

you guy's obviously love keyboard shortcut's, unfortunatly i dont unless its a single keystroke.

also sometimes its nice to block comment out a largeish section of code and then go back and un comment a few select iles of code.

this is significantly slower for me using the {} method.

it just seems a shame to lose something i was used to in micro code studio.
:(

funny you should say that i tried this in both work and vs2005 and it didnt work, so after you posted i retried and sure enough it worked some times but i had to start slecting on the text or it would delete the text

unfortunately id also forgotten that vs2005 auto tabs.

anyway i understand that this feature is lost from the ide i just feel its a shame.
