Induction motor speed control (CH water pump)

Post by DerekUnderlay » Mon Jun 28, 2010 2:00 pm

Can anyone point me towards an electronic speed control schematic for controlling the speed of a central heating pump please?
The pump only has L and N connections and no access to windings.

My pump has a 3-speed switch on it , but goodness knows how that works.

I want to be able to leave it on top-speed but be able to remotely set it for half a dozen speeds.
I've seen controllers ranging from simple on-off (zero-crossing) modulation to expensive F/V units.
I'm really after something in the middle at low cost and controllable by PIC.
Any ideas gratefully accepted.
