Pic 16F887 compatible with swordfish ?

Post by alexandre » Thu Mar 11, 2010 10:27 am

Hi everybordy
I am new in this forum.
This is my firts message.
I am interested in pic programmation, I have bought a pic Kit 2 with a 16F887, and I would like to programm it with swordfish, but when I write "Device = 16F887", I have the following error :

[Error]: Unable to open system file
[Error](14): Unable to open system file

when I replace in the programm 16f887 by 18f4580, the error message desappear; does that mean, that the 16f887 is not compatible with swordfish ?

thanks for your answer.

SF only supports the 18F range of PIC's.

There are plenty of benefits for this restriction, most of them relating to the fact that 16F's are quite old.
