Ryan that can't be the latest version. I am only a 2.2.0.4. Or maybe I misunderstood.
I do believe Ryan is thinking of MPLAB

I'm just guessing now, but it would seem that plugins are written in VB or VB.net do you have up to date runtime libraries for VB and perhaps VB.net?

On my system, running XP sp3 and everything 'just works'. I have .NET frameworks 1,2,3 & 3.5 installed. Perhaps you are missing some runtime libraries?

Hi tdg8934, I also have the EP4 and I have no particular axe to grind wrt compilers. When I tried out the demo versions of both MikroBasic and Swordfish, one of the things I attempted was cross coding from the supplied 16F877A (on the easyPIC4) to an 18F4431. (You should try that with one of the sam...

I agree, please excuse my sometimes 'oblique' sense of humour. :)

I suggest you consider upgrading - its a superb compiler and worth every penny! Yes, I agree, I received my disk and dongles on Tuesday  David: many thanks for the speedy service, I ordered on Sunday and had it installed on Tuesday morning. Although I'm just a little dissapointed....the disk w...

John, I really must apologise. That which I could replicate with ease yesterday no longer appears to happen today and LE is performing just as it should. All I can say is 'honest...it really was happening' Yesterday I could wipe out half the entries in the system Lib by dropping a dummy file ...

Hi John, The problem goes somewhat deeper. If I have a valid module in the User Library, detected by Library Explorer, and I create a new file in SF, leaving it empty (except for the comment header) then save that empty file to the User Library, it stops detecting the valid file. So in this case, 1+...

Having a minor issue with Library Explorer. It seems as if LE is only registering n-1 user modules. When I had only one module in there it wouldn't show, now I have two the first has appeared but not the second. It compiles fine. just a 'no show' in LE. Just checked again by adding some dummy module...

Has anyone figured if this is a hardware issue with the EasyPIC boards, or is it the type of GLCD? I can only speak for the EasyPIC4 board and in that case the mapping shown on the silksreen is accurate (wrt /cs1 and /cs2) which implies that the glcd module has reversed mapping for these pins. Howe...

Case Closed !!

Ok, this is my last post on the subject! I finally got MPLAB ICD2 and SF working together as they should and the problem after all was wetware! It appears that MPLAB needs a few crucial settings before it'll play ball, so, for the benefit of others who may also be on the toe of this (rather steep) l...

ICD2 debugging problem!

I seem to be talking to myself but that's ok, it's a perk of being old. First some background. Materials: EasyPic4 dev board ICD header (Microchip AC162051) ICD2 hockey puck PIC18F4431 MPLAB V7.60a SFSE V(latest) Result; can build (for debug) and program successfully (blink-1 blinks as it should) bu...

OK, answering my own question, I just rolled back to MPLAB V7.60a and everything works. I'll try again with 7.62 and see if a clean install sorts the problem.

Cheers all,

SF + MPLAB problem ****noob alert****

Hi, Sorry if this is a stoopid question but here goes. I've followed the instructions for installing the CL version of SF into the MPLAB folder and selected SF as my toolsuite (having selected SESwordfish as my language tool location). But... when I try to build from MPLAB I get the error message......

This explains the problem I had when I was setting up the (very excellent) oshonsoft simulator to match the GLCD on the easyPic4 board!

I thought the problem had been with the simulator, now I know better! :D

I traced the tracks and lo' the mE GLCD does indeed have CS1 & CS2 reversed.
