file time/date changes

Whenever I have files open in the IDE and do a compile, the IDE seems to write them out back to disk even if there have been no changes done to the file.
I know the IDE can sense if any edits have been done. It'd be nice for it not to rewrite/update any unchanged files.
It's not a big deal, but the file time/date changes, so my archiving software unnecessarily thinks I need to update things.
